Corbett is ONN
As every young Indian soul wants to go to Goa at least once, and there are unlimited plans and
hyper excitement for the same. But we (my partners) were so much into our plan of Corbett, and our catchword was Corbett is ONN....!.
Trying for multiple times the plan used to get postponed due to so many reasons, at last we got lucky and managed to book our stay and safari at Jim Corbett. We were clear that of visiting Jim Corbett we have to book FRH (Forest Rest House) as there are multiple advantages of it. Primary being that you stay in the middle of Jungle.!!..what else can be more exciting.?..
So finally after traveling through 4 states and multiple cities we reached at Ram Nagar station with our hopes high for our most awaited journey. We have planned the trip with optimum precision for maximum Safari ( Game drive, Jungle Safari). We settled for 7 safari's in our three nights stay.
Early in the morning by 5:00 am we reached Ram Nagar, got fresh at railway station and our friend and driver for all the safari's Mr. Azim was ready to pick us up.
Being in Hospitality and travel Industry for about a decade now and traveling in several National Parks of India and Africa, almost a permanent resident of Pench, Kanha and Tadoba, I have always been equally excited for each safari of mine.
Our first safari was in Jhirna zone. As I was visiting Jim Corbett for the first time I was just absorbing the beauty of it . A dense Moist Deciduous type of forest is green all the time throughout the year.Majority of the trees are Sal, peepal and mangoes.
Asking our guide and driver about the forest and and ofcourse about the recent sightings. As our regular discussion was going on we were patiently waiting for calls and listening to jungle. Then again moving around and getting updates from other vehicles of how they just saw a tiger crossing. Yes we missed the tiger crossing for 3 times in a row. We were waiting on the most used path of it and also tracking the calls of monkeys and deers but no luck.. this is the beauty of jungle you can not exactly be sure of it and will learn something new in every single safari. With all the predictions fail we then decided to leave as the time was about to get over. Just for a peace of mind we took a last chance to wait for 5 minutes at the high bank of the river. To our excitement we heard a distant call from the woods, and that moment we were like Aaj to Dikhna hi hai tiger.. apparantly the calls started increasing and became more clear. And in short time our guide noticed the movement just below in the banks and all of us synced our vision at the direction showed by him.
There it is....!..At last (very practically though) we had our first tiger sighting in Jim Corbett. She was a female of about 5-6 years and was the same tiger which we had missed multiple times. She walked for about 30 mins before reaching near river, where probably she had hide her kill. But due to some noise created by other vehicle on the bank she chose not to go further and sat in the shadow panting with thirst. After taking some shots and looking at her for sometime we decided to leave her alone and head to our exit gate.
In the next blog I'll be sharing about the once in a million chance of sighting and experience of us at Jim Corbett Dhikala zone..
